Why is Brazil Poised for Sustainable Growth?

29-03-2010

AMSTERDAM – February 15th , 2010

Why Amsterdam? The Netherlands is “a nation that breathes international trade, the vigour of its economy stimulated by centuries of seafaring” said Mayara Fagundes, executive producer of the event. “They are the natural partners for the heavy infrastructure overhauling that Brazil needs - and is addressing at a furious pace - in preparation to the World Cup in 2014 and hosting the Olympic Games in 2016.”

The Brazil Means Business Symposium is for Dutch and all EU region entrepreneurs, SMEs, and technology startups interested in selling their services and products to Brazil. It will also bring to Amsterdam a delegation of Brazilian entrepreneurs, startups, angel investors, high-tech companies, and banking professionals that want to explore setting up the European headquarters of their Brazilian companies in the Netherlands.

Joao Garcia Batista, Head of Credit Quantitative and Correlation Modeling at Dexia Group, from Brussels, will present research in the Brazilian Securitization Market and its new regulatory frameworks. He will also speak about emerging opportunities in Brazil in public housing development, and in the biotechnology sector in the state of Amazon. From Brazil, Mr. Ricardo Normand, Fund Manager of NOVARUM, at Jardim Botanico Investimentos, will speak about trends in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector.

The event will provide unparalleled networking opportunities, with highly interactive sessions, and provide a 360 degree view of Brazil to EU entrepreneurs, to introduce Brazilian entrepreneurs that can help establish joint-ventures, to identify potential mergers and acquisitions, and evaluate distribution and manufacturing partnerships. Dutch companies that are already present in Brazil will share their experiences as well, in round-tables and side sessions.

As the host of the Olympic Games, and with major investments being made in the infrastructure sector by the government, Brazil presents a unique opportunity for Dutch and European companies in the infrastructure, high-technology, mobile technology, and design sectors in the coming years.
